Meanwhile, Liverpool clashed against Fulham with a spot in the final at stake. Despite falling behind in the opening leg due to an early goal from Willian, Liverpool rallied and secured a 2-1 victory with goals from Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo. On 24th January, the second leg was played at Craven Cottage and ended in a 1-1 draw. As a result, Liverpool progressed to their second EFL Cup final in three seasons with a 3-2 aggregate win.
