The 30-year-old midfielder got injured in the second half of the match against Crystal Palace. Liverpool is confident that Thiago’s injury is not that severe. The Spaniard was substituted because of a calf problem in the 62nd moment of the Reds’ 3-0 victory at Anfield. Thiago was subbed by Naby Keita, who advanced to score Liverpool’s third goal on the 89th minute of the match.

Liverpool signed Thiago for £20 million in September 2020 when he was playing for Bayern Munich. Thiago has had a tough time at Liverpool as he was previously injured and had to miss 16 games. And after the injury, he also got infected by Covid-19.

Reporting on the Spaniard after the game, Jurgen Klopp said: “The main in the game was Thiago, however, we hope it isn’t dangerous,” said Klopp. “He felt his calf and presently we believe it isn’t so vital,” he added.

He added that the 22-year-old Brit has not been infected by Covid-19 after conducting covid tests. Klopp had to make some quick changes in the squad due to the sudden absence of Alexander-Arnold.

“Trent woke up earlier today, felt ill, we just needed to send him home,” Jürgen Klopp stated. “It’s all fine, it’s not Covid. We tried everything, except he didn’t feel good in any case,” he continued.

Alexander-Arnold was expected to be the exclusive player to hold his place from Liverpool’s back four against AC Milan, yet all things being equal, Klopp has handled the defence. James Milner replaced Alexander-Arnold against the Crystal Palace clash.
