Imad was captured by the shutterbugs smoking a cigarette in the Multan Sultans changing room. The video quickly went viral on social media, drawing criticism against the player. Meanwhile, this is not the first time he has been into controversy.
In 2017, a Dutch girl, who was born in Afghanistan, shared images of herself with Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim. She said that Wasim was “disloyal to her.” The girl stated that she had met Imad in London and that the cricketer had made her a marriage commitment but had since rejected her.
Initially, the Dutch woman of Afghani heritage released personal images of herself and Imad, but she chose to obfuscate her identity. However, the woman attempted to convince people with more credible evidence as soon as things appeared to be going in Wasim’s favour, particularly when the Pakistani all-rounder requested fans and the media to stop spreading false rumours in a video message.
Later, following the release of further private movies, images, voice call records, and WhatsApp chats, the woman revealed pictures without covering her face. The anonymous woman strengthened her position against the cricketer by providing audio call recordings, WhatsApp chats, and videos as convincing evidence of his alleged forgery of marriage promises.
The cricket player didn’t wait long to respond to the rumours and leaked videos, as he quickly released the clearance video, a kind of complete video that included some very important recommendations for the media and asked the fans to not believe anything.
His alleged WhatsApp chat with her was also leaked which showed that he was making marriage promises to the girl. However, the truth about the alleged screenshots were not verified.
