In a men’s T20 match, the Sydney Thunder was bowled out for 15 against the Adelaide Strikers on Friday in the Big Bash League 2022, the lowest score ever. Three of the top four Thunder batters were struck out for ducks while attempting to hit a target of 140. Gilkes was out on the third ball of the innings, followed by Rilee Rossouw (3), Jason Sangha (0), and Hales (0), all of whom were also out without bothering the scorers.

Henry Thornton, a seamer for the Strikers, decimated the middle order in the PowerPlay by taking five wickets in three overs, while Wes Agar claimed four victims at the other end. The collapse was started by Matthew Short, who had a wicket in his first and only over. Thorton’s bowling statistics of 5/3 are also the greatest by an Australian in the BBL. Star T20 bowlers Rashid Khan and Peter Siddle, who were not needed to roll their arms over, were also on the Thunder. With the exception of two washouts, Rashid has not bowled an over in a T20 game for the first time in 358 games.

No Thunders batter managed to reach double digits, and the Thunders were defeated in just 5.5 overs. Turkey previously held the record for the lowest score in men’s cricket (21 all out against the Czech Republic in 2019). However, Maldives Women and Mali Women, who were bowled out for 6, have the lowest total in all T20s.
When Adelaide Strikers decided to bat, they amassed 139/9 in 20 overs, with Chris Lynn getting the most runs with 36 off 27 deliveries. Fazalhaq Farooqi recorded outstanding stats of 3/20, and Sydney Thunder went into the break in good spirits. The Thunders’ effort with the bat, though, was utterly appalling as they failed to even last through the powerplay before being dismissed for a pitiful 15.
