Suryakumar Yadav, who failed to advance past the first ball in each of his three innings against Australia during a three-match ODI series with the Men in Blue in March 2023, became the first Indian player to suffer three straight ducks in ODI cricket. He became the first player to achieve three straight golden ducks in an ODI series as a result of his dismal run of performances with the bat in India’s ODI matches.

While previous players have experienced the same fate as Suryakumar and recorded three ducks in an ODI bilateral series, none of those players did it in a three-match series.

The Indian player with the most golden ducks in ODIs is still not Suryakumar. Throughout his 50-over career, former bowler Javagal Srinath was dismissed for eight golden ducks, earning him the dubious distinction. In ODIs, he was ejected for a total of 19 ducks.

None of the players listed as having a duck in three straight ODI innings is among the top 10 players in terms of golden ducks. Naturally, bowlers make up the majority of the players in this top 10.
