In every cricket format, rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking are crucial elements for the batting team. This becomes more important in the shortest format when teams are looking to score big.
Dot ball
A dot ball in cricket is a delivery bowled with no runs scored. The reason behind such a delivery being called a ‘dot ball’ is because a scorer marks a single dot in the scorebook when a batter does not score any runs.
Most Dot Balls by Bowlers in IPL 2023
GT’s Mohammed Shami and RCB’s Siraj currently lead the list for bowlers with most dot balls in the IPL 2023. Interestingly, quick bowlers dominate the list, beating the batters using their sheer pace.
Aside from them, a few spinners including Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Piyush Chawla and Rashid Khan also feature in the top 15 list.
