Lyrics to Argentina national team ‘racist’ chants

The lyrics to the ‘racist’ and ‘transphobic’ began with:

On passport, French nationality, listen, spread the word, they play in France, but they are all from Angola, they are going to run well, they like to sleep with trans people, their mum is Nigerian, their dad is Cameroonian, but on the passport it says: French.”

According to reports, the transphobic part of the chant was directed at Kylian Mbappe, following rumours of previously dating transgender model Ines Rau.

‘Listen, spread the word. They play in France, but they are all from Angola. How nice it is! They are going to run. They are ‘cometravas’* like f***ing Mbappé. Their mom is Nigerian. Their dad, Cameroonian. But in the document …Nationality, French.

‘Cometravas’ is a slang term that translates to somebody who has sex with transgender people.

Enzo Fernandez issues apology

Unsurprisingly, Fernandez has issued a formal apology stating:

I want to apologise sincerely for a video posted on my Instagram channel during the national team celebrations, the song includes highly offensive language and there is absolutely no excuse for these words.”

Chelsea undertakes investigations

Despite Enzo Fernandez’s apology, several of his Chelsea teammates and fans have been outraged over the video. As a result, Chelsea have decided to undertake investigations over the issue, confirming it on Wednesday, July 17. The club stated that it is proud to be a diverse, inclusive club where people from all cultures, communities and identities feel welcome. The club acknowledged Enzo Fernandez’s public apology and stated that it will use this as an opportunity to educate.

Other Premier League players on the bus

There were seemingly, several other Premier League players on the Argentine bus alongside Enzo Fernandez when the incident occurred. However, it is still unclear whether they were involved in the signing. In The video shows Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez sitting directly next to Enzo but there is no evidence suggesting he was involved in the chanting.

However, there is strong speculation that Tottenham playmaker Giovani Lo Celso was present on the bus and actively involved in the singing. This is after the footage shows a player wearing the number 16 short6s, which is Lo Celso’s number. Meanwhile, Manchester United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez showed no indication of being involved in the singing.
