List Of All Dogs Breed Banned In Gurgaon India And The Reason

Gurugram consumer forum has put a ban on 11 dog breeds because of the series of dog attacks in the city and neighbouring areas, know all the breeds banned in Gurgaon

A series of dog attacks in Gurugram and neighbouring areas have called the consumer forum in the city for making a ban on numerous dog breeds. District consumer disputes redressal forum issued directives to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram to ban 11 foreign breeds of dog. The Gurugram consumer forum issued a direction while ordering a compensation of INR 2 lakh for the woman who was seriously injured by a dog which was petted and attacked in the Civil Lines in August.

Gurugram Dog Attacks Before Ban

The woman who got attacked by the pet dog suffered many critical injuries on her head and face. She was referred from the civil hospital in Gurugram to Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital. The forum has also stated, if the MCG wants, this compensation amount can be recovered from the dog owner. On the 11th of August, victim Munni who was working as a domestic helper in the locality was attacked by Vinit Chikara’s pet dog while Munni was on her way to work.

One FIR has been registered at the Civil Line police station, the dog’s breed was mentioned as ‘Pitbull’. Later on, the owner informed the breed is a ‘Dogo Argentino’. The forum directed the MCG to take that dog in the custody and cancel Chikara’s licence to own a dog with immediate effect. It was also directed to make a ban on a total of 11 foreign breeds and instructed the MCG to keep all strays in pounds after taking them into custody

The forum also directed MCG to make a policy for pet dogs within 3 months. “In the interest of justice a compensation of INR 2 lakhs is ordered to be paid by way of interim relief by the MCG to the victim who has been stated to be a very poor lady doing the household works in the houses of others and had serious injuries,” the source says.
