Leagues Cup
The Leagues Cup is an annual football tournament featuring all the MLS clubs in USA and Liga MX in Mexico. The first edition of the cup came in 2019 with four teams from each league. Cruz Azul lifted the first trophy held in Nevada. The tournament has since expanded to 16 teams back in 2021, with eight teams from each league. Leon managed to beat Seattle Sounders 3-2 that year in the final match played out in front of 24,00 fans at the Allegiant Stadium.
In this year’s edition, the tournament will feature all the teams from both leagues.
Interestingly, the MLS and Liga MX seasons will have a month-long pause for the Leagues Cup. Besides facing inaugural winners Cruz Azul, Inter Miami will also face another MLS side Atlanta United.
