Lewis Hamilton To See A Specialist For Neck Injury After Crash With Max Verstappen At The Italian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton spoke about how there was pain in his neck ensuing his crash with Max Verstappen, one where his life was saved by the halo

The ongoing scuffle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen is refusing to die down. Ever since Hamilton had bundled into Verstappen at Silverstone, causing him to crash into the barrier, the two have been at loggerheads both on the circuit and away from it.

And the bygone Italian Grand Prix was a testament to how feisty and competitive things have gotten between the two. On lap 25 at Monza, Max Verstappen tried to edge past Hamilton through the Rettifilio chicane, a botched effort which saw him crash into the Mercedes and subsequently end both the drivers’ race.

Verstappen’s rear tyre ended up rolling forward across Hamilton’s halo before making contact with his helmet as the Red Bull bundled over Hamilton’s car. The set of events which unraveled were extremely frightening to see with Hamilton’s life being only saved by the halo.

“His rear wheel landed on my head. I think Angela is going to be travelling with me these next days but I think I probably will need to see a specialist just to make sure I’m good for the next race.

“It’s feeling like it’s getting a little bit worse as the adrenaline rush wears off but I’ll work with [physiotherapist] Angela [Cullen] to fix it,” Hamilton said when talking about his injury as he thanked the presence of the halo for saving his life.
