The upcoming second season will reportedly feature a player pool of over 200 players across five cities in India.
Ravi Shastri, who is the league’s commissioner stated:
“The game is getting bigger each day at Legends League Cricket. With more and more players joining, we must keep the fire burning and give fans the chance to witness the best competitive cricket across the new venues. I would say that Legends are going to rock this season.”
LLC Season 2 venues
The upcoming Legends League Cricket Season 2 will take place across the following five venues:
- Ranchi
- Dehradun
- Jammu
- Vizag
- Surat
LLC Season 2 matches schedule
The upcoming competition will feature a total of 19 matches that will take place starting from 18th November to 9th December 2023.
LLC Season 2 retained players
India Capitals: Gautam Gambhir, Pravin Tambe and Ashley Nurse
Bhilwara Kings: Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and Shane Watson
Manipal Tigers: Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Corey Anderson
Gujarat Giants: Chris Gayle, Parthiv Patel and Kevin O’Brien
Ahead of the competition, the Legends League Cricket announced a new retention policy, stating the following rules:
- A team can retain a maximum of 3 players each
- New teams can acquire a maximum of 3 players from the remaining player pool
- Teams that have chosen to retain less than 3 players will get to pick the remaining player(s) from the pool after the new teams have acquired their players
So far, several teams have already announced their retained players list. Defending champions, India Capitals have retained their captain Gautam Gambhir alongside Pravin Tambe who was last season’s highest wicket-taker. Meanwhile, last season’s runner-up, Bhilwara Kings, retained their captain, Irfan Pathan and their star player Yusuf Pathan. Pathan was named as the player of the series last season. The team also retained Australian international Shane Watson.
LLC Season 2 draft date
As of now, the League is still yet to announce the exact date for the LLC Season 2 Draft event.
The draft for the highly anticipated Legends League Cricket (LLC), which is to be played across five cities in India from November 18 to December 9, will feature over 200 players from across 12 countries and will take place at the Qutub Minar.
Some of the retired players such as New Zealand batter Martin Guptill, Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh from Australia, will be a part of Legends League Cricket for the first time. and legends from across the world – Ravi Bopara, Kevin Pietersen, Nuwan Kulasekara, Morne Morkel, Xavier Doherty, and Dirk Nannes will also be participating in the draft.
