Laxman Jagtap, a BJP lawmaker who was well-liked in the industrial district of Pimpri-Chinchwad, passed away on Tuesday morning at a Baner private hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 59 years old when he died.
The three-term Chinchwad MLA was placed on ventilator support when he was taken to a private hospital more than two months ago.

Around 2 o’clock, his body will be carried to his Pimple Gurav home, where the public can pay their respects between 3 and 6 o’clock. A family member announced that the funeral will start at 7 o’clock.

Who is Laxman Jagtap?
Laxman Jagtap was a well-known Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). He has been in the news because he passed away recently at the age of 59.
His full name was Jagtap Laxman Pandurang. He was born on February 15, 1963. His father’s name is Pandurang Jagtap.
After completing his schooling and graduating, he went on to do a Master of Science from an unknown college.
He died on January 3, 2023, in Baner, Pune, Maharashtra, India. At the time of his death, he was 59 years old. The politician Laxman Jagtap was happily married to Ashwini or Ashwani Jagtap who is a businesswoman and the couple were partners in several Companies or organizations such as Om Sai Construction, Chanrarang Farm and Nursery & Shareholder, Builders Pvt. Ltd. Pune, and Chandrarang Developers.
The politician and his spouse had a daughter, Eshwarya Jagtap and the pair also seems to have other kids, but little information is available.
His career
In 1986, Laxman Jagtap won the inaugural Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) election and was elected as a corporator. He was chosen to lead the standing committee after being elected mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad in 2000.
After the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was founded in 1999, Jagtap, who began his political career with Congress, joined it. He was regarded as NCP leader Ajit Pawar’s trusty deputy.
While running as an Independent in the Pune local self-government constituency in 2004, he was chosen to serve as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. However, he later joined the BJP in 2014, and his contribution to the party’s first-ever victory in the PCMC in 2019 is significant.
Apart from this, he was also a founder of Shri Ganesh co-operative bank limited, New Sangvi, Pune, New Millennium English Medium School, and Pratibha College of Commerce & Science.
