How is the money from La Liga TV rights distributed among the 20 clubs and what is the prize money for the 2021/22 season
The new TV money sharing system works like this:
Unlike the previous model, which required each top-tier team to negotiate its own TV rights deals, La Liga enacted a landmark bill in 2015 that assured the collective sale of La Liga television rights both locally and internationally.
La Liga 2021/22 Real Madrid Winner Prize Money, TV Rights Money Distribution
Telefonica and Movistar paid roughly €1.89 billion for the domestic live television rights in a three-year contract, while MediaPro paid €750 million for three years, for a total of €2.70 billion (£1.8 billion) in three-year domestic deals.
La Liga is selling global collective television rights in oversea markets. In comparison to earlier deals, they increased their overseas TV money.
Fund for La Liga Prize Money in 2021-22
2021-22 TV money allocation model: Under the new TV money distribution model, La Liga will combine local and international TV money into one pot, with 10% going to division 2 teams. The remaining 90% will be dispersed according to the following model.
- Equal-share: 50% will be split equally among all 20 top-flight clubs under an equal-share arrangement.
- Merit money: 25% of the prize pool will be given based on league positions during the previous five years.
- Resources-Generation: A quarter of the funds will be given based on each team’s ability to generate resources, such as the number of official club members, season ticket sales, and attendance.
