Here’s which jersey number Kylian Mbappe will be donning at Real Madrid, along with his position, salary and more

Kylian Mbappe finally addressed his departure from Paris Saint-Germain officially by releasing a goodbye video on his Instagram account. Real Madrid is now one step closer to ending their years-long pursuit of the France international after receiving this news.

In the video released, he stated that he “will not extend” his contract with the Ligue 1 side and will play his “last game at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.” Mbappe was named the French team’s captain during the 2022 World Cup, and over the previous few seasons, he has been frequently linked to a transfer to Real Madrid.

The question arises, which jersey number will he get? At what position will he play for the Los Blancos stunning squad and how much will he be paid? Let us have a look.

Kylian Mbappe’s possible jersey number at Real Madrid

While Madridistas await to see Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, Mundo Deportivo earlier reported that the French star will be wearing the No. 10 jersey as Luka Modric leaves at the conclusion of the season. The Croatian appears in No. 10 for the Whites and so does Mbappe, for the France International Football Team.

What position will Kylian Mbappe play for Real Madrid?

Vinicius Junior leads a star-studded attacking line for Carlo Ancelotti, but Mbappe may add even more strength. It makes sense if Mbappe plays as a striker and Rodrygo plays on the right wing since the Brazilian is unstoppable on the left wing.

A look at Kylian Mbappe’s possible salary structure at Real Madrid

Lesser than what was offered last year though! Mbappe will have to take a pay reduction in order to play for the 14-time European Cup winners who are vying for 15th as they face Borussia Dortmund in the final.

The World Cup winner was still at Monaco when Madrid chased him in 2017, and the Spanish team was partially disinclined to make a move because Mbappé was demanding pay of €12 million a year after taxes, which would have violated the club’s then-existing pay structure, about which the club and president Florentino Perez cares a lot on priority.

With his current salary of around €75 million at PSG, Real Madrid would know that a better offer will probably be accepted than the €26 million annual salary and €130 million signing bonus the Whites offered the World Cup winner two years ago. However, while he is set to become the club’s highest paid player, Madrid will not be paying him anywhere close to what he got at PSG.

Reports suggest that the 25-year-old has accepted a new deal from Madrid worth €25 million a season after tax, with a €150 million signing-on fee spread over five years to make up for the salary decrease. A portion of his image rights will also be retained by him.

That is around twice as much as the highest earners within the existing squad.
