The Olympic gold medalist was notoriously featured in a WWE television angle where he pursued Booker T’s wife Sharmell years ago. According to reports, McMahon learned that Kurt Angle had dated a few African American women in the past and made the decision to create a plot line based on the legendary wrestler’s personal life.
The following was disclosed by Kurt Angle on his AdFreeShows podcast:
“But I’m going to tell you about it. I’m going to be upfront and tell everyone what’s happening right now. I told Vince McMahon that I had dated a few African American women in the past. Approximately 17 years ago, I also took part in a show with Booker T and Sharmell in which I trailed Sharmell, Booker T’s wife.” Angle announced that Jason Jordan is now in charge.
In 2017, when Angle returned to the WWE, McMahon was still reflecting on his previous partnerships. The Olympic champion alleged that Vince McMahon frequently fabricated plot lines based on behind-the-scenes jokes, which is why he opted to portray Jason Jordan as Kurt Angle’s child.
McMahon, according to Angle, was “persistent” about the idea and made sure it was prominently promoted on WWE programming:
Angle said, “So Vince likes to take ribs and turn them into narratives. He just has this crazy, odd attitude, and he kind of wanted to put it in my face, saying, Hey, I know what’s going on in your life; we’re going to make this into a tale. Additionally, he was tenacious; he wasn’t going to let this thing go away. It was going to continue.”
If we are being completely honest, this seems like something Vince McMahon would think up. I am not at all surprised.
