Kubo begins attending school early so that she may have more time with him after realizing they live nearby. During a long-distance run, Shiraishi observes that even his racing friend has trouble keeping up with him on the track. On his way back to class, he sees Kubo following him, but he makes an effort to keep his distance. Shiraishi answers her question by stating that he is now sweating and that his clothes likely smell.
Kubo pulls his outfits to take a smell of them. Shiraishi is troubled by the scent, so she offers him her fragrant moist tissues to wipe his face even if it seems to her like she doesn’t mind. Kubo notes that they now smell identical when he uses them. Shiraishi visits the bookshop the next day since his favorite manga’s most recent volume is being released. He runs across Kubo there, who is quite curious about his reading preferences. She chooses to purchase the book in order to find out more about his preferred manga.
