Philips Instagram account was riddled with abuses by Virat Kohli fans on Sunday

Glenn Phillips made a spectacular catch at point to dismiss Virat Kohli during the India vs. New Zealand ODI cricket match in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The one-handed flying catch by Glenn Philips appeared to even startle King Kohli. Phillips’ amazing effort was witnessed by Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma and she also appeared astonished witnessing the effort.

Glenn made the catch with a reaction time of 0.62 seconds. Legendary cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu were unable to stop complimenting the New Zealand player for his incredible catch.

The catch was compared by Harbhajan to the famous Jhonty Rhodes catch, which was once a wall poster for every cricket fan. In his JioHotstar commentary, the renowned off-spinner claimed that Phillips’ grab was superior to Jhonty’s. According to him, the next generation will retain this poster to be motivated by.

India is batting first in the tournament for the first time. India batted second in the first two games (against Bangladesh and Pakistan) and won by six wickets apiece.

Every time Virat Kohli takes the field to bat, there are high expectations because he is perhaps the best batter of our generation. When India and New Zealand faced off in their last group-stage match in Dubai on Sunday, it was no different. In his historic 300th ODI, Kohli was supposed to step up, but he was unable to do so. Due in part to his recent comeback to form against Pakistan, he was expected to do well.

Millions cricket fans worldwide were devastated by Glenn Phillips’ incredible one-handed catch, which also sent Virat Kohli back. After 14 balls, Kohli was removed for 11 runs.

However, what transpired next took centre stage. Once more, dozens of Kohli supporters were at it. Instead of mocking the New Zealand cricket player, they tagged the incorrect “Phillips” in an attempt to insult Glenn Phillips on Instagram but they primarily commented on the electronic company, “Philips,” the top lighting brand in the world, account on Instagram as the majority of Kohli followers mistook the account for that of the New Zealand cricketer.

The majority of the disgruntled supporters turned to misusing the incorrect handle despite being called out. The comment section became extremely offensive, demonstrating how Kohli is viewed as a demi-god.
