The reason behind why Mason Mount is not playing today in Newcastle United vs Chelsea is finally out
When the Chelsea playing 11 came out for their gameweek 10 fixture against Newcastle United, one player whose omission left people scratching their heads over was Mason Mount. Not only did the midfielder end up failing to make the the playing 11 but was excluded from Chelsea’s squad altogether for the showdown.
Newcastle United vs Chelsea: Why Is Mason Mount Not Playing Today
Having snagged himself a neat hattrick against Norwich City only last weekend, Mount’s absence made for telling concern. With the club based out of London without the services of Romelu Lukaku, Matteo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner with the quartet all on the injury bed, Mount was envisaged to play an integral role in the club’s attacking modus operandi.
And with their being no prior knowledge of what had happened to Mount, question marks were raised over his omission. Its now been revealed that he’s currently suffering from an illness, one which saw him stay back in London.

Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi were selected to play in the front three alongside Kai Havertz for the match. The affair could be a testing one for Chelsea with the club striving to compensate for its pivotal names when it takes on a Newcastle United side having recently parted company with Steve Bruce under the new Saudi Arabia regime.
The injury list makes for cause for concern for Chelsea at the moment with Kovacic envisaged to be sidelined for a month owing to his plight. While Pulisic was pictured back in training recently, he failed to make the cut this weekend as well.
