Thomas Tuchel provided an injury update on Edouard Mendy with the goalkeeper missing out on Tottenham vs Chelsea
Although he travelled with Chelsea to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, shot stopper Edouard Mendy failed to make the visiting team’s squad altogether. He was replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga as Chelsea took on their feisty neighbors with the club striving to keep its unbeaten run in the 2021/22 edition of the Premier League.
Edouard Mendy Injury Update, News And Return Date As He Misses Out Against Tottenham
Mendy’s absence was being attributed to a collision he had suffered earlier in the week in the Champions League with Thomas Tuchel affirming that was the case. Speaking ahead of the showdown, the Chelsea bigwig talked about how Mendy was currently suffering an injury, one he had sustained after colliding with Artem Dzyuba in Chelsea’s tie against Zenit.
The player had suffered a hip injury during the CL outing. While its uncertain on how long Mendy will be out for Chelsea for, an estimated two week timeframe is being put on his recovery.
Chelsea had managed to win that encounter 1-0 courtesy of a Romelu Lukaku goal on the day. The club will be aspiring that the striker can deliver once again for the side this Sunday as the side takes on Tottenham.
Chelsea are one of the few unbeaten clubs in the league at the moment alongside Liverpool and Manchester United with the side winning all of its contests apart from the one draw against Liverpool.
Previously in the day, Manchester United had gone onto defeat West Ham 2-1 with David de Gea’s late penalty save complimenting an 89th minute winner from Jesse Lingard.
