Find out why Liverpool Brazilian players are expected to miss out from their clash against Watford this weekend in the premier league
As the things stand at the moment, Liverpool’s players from Brazil i.e. Alisson Becker and Fabinho look set to miss out on their team’s clash against Watford. It is a huge set back for Liverpool as they are going to miss their two crucial players. Let’s find out why Alisson and Fabinho will miss out this weekend’s game.
Why will Brazilian players Alisson and Fabinho miss out Liverpool vs Watford?
The two players are missing out on their game mainly because they played a World Cup Qualifier game just 35 hours before the kick off time of Liverpool vs Watford. It is very unlikely for them to travel with all the Covid protocols in place and be available in just 35 hours. It is reported that Liverpool had asked the premier league to move the timing of their match a bit further so that they can make their players available.
However, the request was rejected by the league. Interestingly enough, even if they made it back on time they would have not played. The current premier league protocols state that any player who is coming from a red-list nation needs to quarantine for 10 days. Brazil is currently red-listed because of the pandemic situation which is really bad there. The 10-day quarantine would’ve ruled the players out of the game anyways.
Does Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp agree with the protocol?
Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp has recently spoken against the protocol. He said that this does not look like a real solution. According to him if the situation is so bad in Brazil why other leagues are allowing their players to come in play.. Klopp certainly has a valid point but he has received no positive response from the league yet.
It has been reported that Liverpool are going to directly call up Alisson and Fabinho to Madrid. Liverpool will be facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next week. The team is certainly considering flying the players directly out to Madrid as the norms are a bit lighter there.
