Know Who Won The ICC Player of the Month Awards For August 2021, What It Is And How Is It Decided

The article will talk about the ICC player of the month, what it is and who got it for August 2021 along with the criteria to be the POTM

The Player of the Month Awards for men and women were created by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in January 2021 to recognize and celebrate the outstanding performances across all formats of international cricket throughout the year. The award is given through a voting system.

ICC nominates three players for both men and women, and the fans are expected to vote.

Voting system for ICC’s POTM

Full Members and Associate Members are both considered shortlisting during the performance period, which runs from the first to the last day of each calendar month.

Test matches that end before the calendar month’s last day are considered for that month’s voting (for example, if a Test match begins on 29 January 2021 and ends on 1 February 2021, the results are included for the February vote).

The ICC Management compiles a shortlist of three male and three female players in cooperation with the ICC’s statistician and shares it with crucial statistics and performance highlights during the month.

The Voting Academy receives the shortlist of nominees and the accompanying comments, announced on the ICC’s digital platforms.

There are two ways to collect votes:

1. The Voting Academy sends in its ballots by email and receives 90% of the vote.

2. Once the nominees are released, fans who have registered with the ICC can vote via the ICC website for a 10% share of the vote.

In each category, the player with the highest percentage of votes has been proclaimed the champion. In the event of a tie, the winner is determined by the Voting Academy’s ballot. If there is still a tie, the Award will be split.
