The 2021-22 football season has just set about a little over two weeks ago but it’s already time for players to head for national duty to their home countries.

The resumption of all the major European leagues this month has started to get the fans excited already. But this excitement will have to be interrupted for a bit because of this season’s first International break.

So let’s take a look at when these International breaks are scheduled to take place for the 2021-22 season:

All Football International breaks for 2021/22, Dates And Matches

There are 5 international breaks in the new 2021-22 season. The first one is just around the corner. Here is the schedule:

  • August 30 to September 8
  • October 4 to October 13
  • November 8 to November 16
  • January 24 to February 1
  • March 21 to March 29

The breaks will open the door for a number of important tournaments like World Cup Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar next year, Africa Cup Of Nations and CONMEBOL.

The Africa Cup Of Nations will take place from January 9 to February 6, 2022 in Cameroon. Though the tournament usually takes place during the summer, the World Cup in Qatar has now been put off until November next year. It will commence on November 21 and go on till December 18.

Adhering to Covid protocols, many premier league clubs have come together against sending their players to red listed countries for matches. They do not want to risk their players’ health, fitness and welfare which is the least they could expect from FIFA.

This issue has raised a contention between clubs and FIFA, but it will surely be settle soon. Players will be required to quarantine themselves on their return from international duty for 10 days. And this is what has caused many clubs to stand unanimously against releasing their key players to red zone countries.
