BWF World Tour Open Badminton, Thomas And Uber Cup Prize Money Distribution
The prize money of Level 1 and 2 tournaments is in millions. The BWF World Tour 2018 had a prize pol of over $1.5 million and the winners were rewarded for $120,000 which is eight percent of the total prize pool. Further, the doubles winners received around $126,000, and the runners-up from both the event made $60,000. Comparing the numbers with the previous season, there is a big spike and it looks like the BWF are likely to increase it more.
The fourth-place finishers also made a good amount of money. Singles players received $9,000 each and double pairs US$10,500 respectively.
Talking about Level 2 and Level 3 tournaments, the winners will be rewarded with at least 7-8% of the total prize money. Recently, the England Open and Indonesian Open also announced their prize pool which increased from the previous season. England and China Open will have tournaments of prize pool over $1 million whereas Indonesian open will be having $1.25 million in the bag.
This means the winners will be rewarded around $87,500 for singles and doubles winners US$92,500. Comparing this number to the previous season there is an increase of $15,000.
The winners of Level 4 and Level 6 tournaments will also receive somewhere near 7% of the prize pool.
Thomas Cup And Uber Cup are team tournaments. Meaning, there is no specific prize pool for Individuals but the country is rewarded for their placement. Thomas and Uber Cup is one of the biggest tournaments in Badminton after the BWF World Championship and England Open.
