Who Is Indian Men’s Hockey Coach Graham Reid, His Life, Career And Awards
A former player of Australian field hockey, Graham Reid used to play as a defender and midfielder for the Australian team and is currently in charge of the Indian national team. He was a member of the team that won the silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He has over 130 internationals, including two Olympic Games, one World Cup and nine Champions Trophies, scoring a total of 36 goals.
Moreover, he even played at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 1990 Hockey World Cup in Lahore. He was also one of the inaugural members of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) hockey unit in Perth, Western Australia. In April 2019, he took over as the coach of the Indian Men’s National Hockey team. Before this, from 2017 to 2019, he had also coached the hockey teams of Amsterdam and Netherlands. The Queensland Hockey Hall of Fame inducted Reid on November 21, 2015.

Regarding, India’s recent loss to Belgium, he believed that though his team had created enough opportunities to win the game, Belgium being one of the bests, had to come back. India paid the price for not building up on their 2-1 lead, which cost them the match. “My approach is to understand that being a team member, we need to get our head high and get ready for the bronze medal match,” he added, optimistic about India’s next match against Germany, which takes place on 5 August, this Thursday.

The Indian coach is paid $15,000 per month with his net worth slated at $1.5 million.
