Johnson typically bats in the middle or top order, and his batting style is frequently compared to that of former Windies all-rounder Dwayne Smith because of his preference for using strength to strike the ball.

Because Denesh Ramdin and Andre Fletcher were the preferred wicketkeepers in the Test and restricted formats, Johnson was typically the team’s backup wicketkeeper.

He recently produced a career-reviving T20I innings against South Africa, scoring a century off just 39 balls.

The World Cup semifinal between India and West Indies in 2016 saw his best performance of his career, as West Indies beat the hosts India to go to the final owing to his 36-ball 52.

After the performance, a grandstand was named in his honour at the former Beausejour Stadium in St. Lucia, which is now known as the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

Thanks to his playing style and a strike rate of more than 130 in T20s, Johnson Charles has taken part in T20 franchise competitions all over the world, including the SA20 (Durban Super Giants), Pakistan Super League (Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators), Caribbean Premier League, and Dhaka Premier League.
