Johnson Charles’ base price of Rs. 50 lakh was not purchased at the IPL 2023 auction.
He was born on born 14 January 1989 in Castries, St. Lucia with his height at 5 feet 9 inches.
The 34-year-old veteran St. Lucia native has played for West Indies in 89 limited-over matches since making his T20 debut against England at the Oval in 2011.
He played against Australia in his first ODI the following year, in 2012. He also competed for the Caribbean side in the T20 World Cup championships in 2012 and 2016.
Johnson typically bats in the middle or top order, and his batting style is frequently compared to that of former Windies all-rounder Dwayne Smith because of his preference for using strength to strike the ball.
Because Denesh Ramdin and Andre Fletcher were the preferred wicketkeepers in the Test and restricted formats, Johnson was typically the team’s backup wicketkeeper.
He recently produced a career-reviving T20I innings against South Africa, scoring a century off just 39 balls.
The World Cup semifinal between India and West Indies in 2016 saw his best performance of his career, as West Indies beat the hosts India to go to the final owing to his 36-ball 52.
After the performance, a grandstand was named in his honour at the former Beausejour Stadium in St. Lucia, which is now known as the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.
