His actual name is Charles Philip Arthur George. He was born on November 14, 1948, in Buckingham Palace. He was the first child born to Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh.

Between the ages of five and eight, a governess named Catherine Peebles took care of his schooling. He became the first heir apparent to receive an education in the public school system.

Charles started attending Hill House School in west London on November 7, 1956. After that, Charles attended two of his father’s previous schools: Gordonstoun in the northeast of Scotland, where he started attending lessons in April 1962, and Cheam Preparatory School in Berkshire, England, starting in 1958.

King Charles III violated royal custom a second time when he chose to enroll in university immediately after finishing his A-levels rather than enlist in the British military. He was accepted in October 1967 to Trinity College in Cambridge, where he studied anthropology and archaeology. Charles spent a term studying Welsh history and language at the University College of Wales in Aberystwyth during his second year.

The first British heir apparent to receive a university degree, he earned a 2:2 Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Cambridge on June 23, 1970. He received a Master of Arts degree from Cambridge on August 2, 1975.

He was first married to Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. Unfortunately, they both got divorced in 1996. They both have two children together: Prince William, Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. Later, he got married to Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005.

His Career

King Charles III carried out Elizabeth II’s formal duties as the Prince of Wales. In addition to sponsoring The Prince’s Charities and serving as the patron, president, or member of more than 400 additional charities and organizations, he launched the youth charity The Prince’s Trust in 1976.
