The tournament follows a T20 format and features several former international and domestic cricketers divided into six teams.

The Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI) are the organizers behind the short tournament and are making plans to host a bigger version of it in the later part of this year.
The inaugural edition will be played across nine days and feature a total of 18 matches at the same venue. Several veteran cricket stars like Virender Sehwag, Robin Uthappa, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Nick Compton, Richard Levi, Isuru Udana, Praveen Kumar, Thisara Perera are all taking part in the competition.
The Legends Cricket Trophy 2023 can be watched live on Indian national broadcaster Doordarshan and fans can also stream all the games live on the Fancode app or website. All the matches will be played at 3 PM or 7:30 PM IST daily.
