Ahead of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2023, Madhya Pradesh CM SS Chouhan and Union Home minister Nisith Pramanik officially released the mascots, smart torch and the theme song for the sporting event, know the games prize money
During the release, the officials informed that this is the first time a sporting event has featured a smart torch.

Much to the delight of fans, well-known Indian artiste Shaan, rendered the theme song for the KIYG.
KIYG Mascots, smart torch theme song
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Nisith Pramanik released the mascots, smart torch, and theme song for the KIYG-2022.
The mascots for the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG)-2022 are Asha and Mowgli. The smart torch, called the ‘Amarkantak’ is named after the place from where the Narmada River originates. People from Madhya Pradesh consider this river as the lifeline of the state.
During the function, two players handed over the Torch Amarkantak to the CM. The organisers designed the torch with carvings of the famous Mahakaleshwar temple, a running cheetah, and a lotus on top.
While speaking at the event, CM Chouhan shared that players from Madhya Pradesh who medals in the Olympics and Asian Games will be awarded. He revealed that the government would appoint such players to posts like deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and deputy collector.
The CM further added that teams or players who win medals in the KIYG will receive ₹5 lakh annually for coaching purposes.
Every year best 1000 kids will be given an annual scholarship of ₹5 lakh (US$7,000) for 8 years to prepare them for the international events.
In 2022, Haryana CM Khattar announced Rs 1 lakh reward to the gold medal winner, Rs 60,000 to the silver medalist, Rs 50,000 to the bronze medalist and Rs 5,000 rupees to every player from Haryana participating in the games.
Witnessing the enthusiasm and competitive drive among the attendees of Khelo India Youth Games, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has decided to provide monetary support in the sum of Rs. 6,28,000 lakh for every residential athlete training at certified academies under the yearly Khelo India scholarship scheme and this would also include a Rs. 1,20,000 lakh out-of-pocket allowance (OPA).
The KIYG 2023
While speaking at the event, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Pramanik, stated that the Centre began the Khelo India as a mission to provide a platform to promote sports talent across the country. Pramanik also expressed a strong hope that the KIYG in Madhya Pradesh this year, will be historic.
This year, the 2022 Khelo Youth India Games KIYG, began on January 30 and will go on until February 11. The event is being held across Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat and Khargone.
For the first time, KIYG has included water sports like kayaking and canoeing, canoe slalom and rowing. It has also added fencing as part of the games this time. Altogether, the event will feature a total of 27 games played across 23 game venues.
An impressive 6000 players and 303 international and 1089 national officials are taking part in the event. Besides them, the event will also deploy 2,000 volunteers.
