The fourth edition of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) kicked off with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati, Assam with the 2023-2024 medal tally taking shape
The KIUG is a national-level multi-sport competition that the Indian government organized for university students to promote sports and fitness.

The competition, which will follow a team championship format, will bring in about 4,500 athletes from over 200 Indian universities.
Each medal that individual athletes or teams win will be added to the overall medal tally of their respective universities. As such, the university with the most gold medals at the end of the event will become the overall champion.

Khelo India University Games 2024 date and venue
The event is scheduled to take place from February 17 to 29, 2024 in seven states of North East India. These states include Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Notably, it is the first time that the seven Northeastern Indian states are hosting the KIUG.
