KIUG is an Indian government project aimed at identifying young talents at the university level and assisting them in becoming professional athletes. The forthcoming Games will include indigenous sports like yogasana and mallakhamb, as well as 18 other sports, and roughly 4,500 athletes from all around India are scheduled to compete.
In 2020, the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha hosted the first Khelo India University Games.

Who Will Take Part In The Khelo India University Game?
- The edition is projected to attract around 4,000 athletes. Last year, Panjab University took first place with 46 medals, followed by Savitribai Phule Pune University in second place with 37 medals.
- Mumbai University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Barkatullah University, Kurukshetra University, Jain University, and Lovely Professional University are among the other universities participating in the initiative this year.
Venue, Date And Schedule
The Jain University in Bengaluru will host KIUG 2021, the second edition of the meet, from April 24 to May 3. Last year, it was postponed owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the schedule has not been released yet. We will update it sooner.

The Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2021 logo, jersey, mascot, and anthem were unveiled at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
The event’s logo shows the renowned Vidhana Soudha edifice, Bengaluru’s Legislative House, with two elephants on either side. Veera, the mascot of the Khelo India University Games 2021, is also an elephant.
In the presence of TC Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka, and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, the official Khelo India mobile app was inaugurated.

- Candidates should go to Khelo India’s official website.
- If you’re new to the site, you’ll want to start with Athlete.
- Fill out the application form and attach copies of your passport photos.
- Click on Create a Profile, and then fill in the rest of the required information.
- After you’ve completed all of the fields, click the submit button, and you’ll be given a registration number once you’ve properly registered with them.
- When you need to verify the status of your application, you’ll need this registration number. As a result, this registration number must be kept safe.
