Despite medical records attributing his demise to blood cancer, speculations are rife about a possible poisoning. Khanda, known as a bomb expert, had been instrumental in assisting Amritpal Singh’s evasion from the police, a cat and mouse chase that lasted for 37 days between March and April.

He gained notoriety as the architect of the incident involving the pulling down of the Indian flag during a protest held outside the UK High Commission in London on March 19. This act led to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) marking Khanda and three other separatists as the primary accused in the case.
Avtar Singh Khanda was born in 1988 (age 35 years; as of 2023) in the Rode village of Moga district in Punjab Province, British India (Punjab, India). Avtar Singh Khanda was the son of Kulwant Singh Khukhrana, one of the key figures associated with the Khalistan Liberation Force and had a younger sister as well whose name isn’t known.

Avtar Singh Khanda, son of the slain KLF terrorist Kulwant Singh, had moved to the UK in 2007 on a student visa before he sought asylum in 2012. After the death of the former chief Harmeet Singh in Pakistan in January 2020, Khanda took up the reins of KLF under the codename ‘Ranjodh Singh’.
Influence on Khalistani separatist leadership
Avtar Singh Khanda’s influence had been critical in the ascension of Amritpal Singh as the chief of Waris Punjab De after Deep Sidhu’s death. Amritpal Singh, who managed to stay off the police radar for 37 days, finally surrendered at a gurdwara in Punjab’s Moga district on April 23.
He was subsequently transferred to Assam’s Dibrugarh jail, where eight of his associates, including Papalpreet Singh, are detained under the National Security Act.

Despite the official medical records from City Hospital, Birmingham, where he was admitted, stating that Khanda was battling blood cancer, sources close to the situation suggest a possible case of poisoning.
