Director of the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics 2021 fired

Ever since it was announced that Tokyo would be holding the 2020 Olympics in 2013, the city has been surrounded with scandals and controversies. It has been reported that the French investigators are investigating all those officials who paid bribe to the members of the International Olympic Committee in order to make Tokyo as the host city for the 2020 games. This led to Tsunekazu Takeda resigning from the post of the head of the Japanese Olympic Committee just two years before.

The opening ceremony of the much awaited marquee event is going to be held on Friday. This ceremony is going to be held behind closed doors to curb the spread of the COVID-19 cases and would be only be attended by officials, guests and media persons.

Japan to hold Olympics amidst the Covid pandemic

Even amidst the rising cases everyday, the country would still be holding the 2020 games, even though many of the health experts have warned against it. The biggest reason is that IOC has pressurized them to conduct the games as they would be losing around $3-$4billion of television rights if the games are not conducted.
