Who was Kedarnath Aggarwal?
Kedarnath Aggarwal was an Indian businessman, renowned for heading Bikanervala, a snack brand. He has been in the news because he passed away recently at the age of 86.
He was born and raised in Bikaner, where his family had operated a confectionery since 1905. The store, known as Bikaner Namkeen Bhandar, offered a selection of snacks and candies. But he moved to Delhi in the early 1950s with his brother, Satyanarayan Aggarwal, bringing with him the history of his family to the capital city. They named their shop Bikaner Namkeen Bhandar.
Kedarnath Aggarwal was fondly known as Kakaji. While not much is known about his personal life, it is known that he had multiple sons, with the eldest being Radhey Mohan Aggarwal, Director of Bikanervala Group.
At the time of his death, he was 84 years old.
Hailing from Bikaner, his family owned a sweet shop in the bylanes of the city since 1905 and the shop was named as Bikaner Namkeen Bhandar and Kedarnath, along with his brother Satyanarayan Aggarwal, started Bikanervala in the 1950s as street vendors in Old Delhi.
Kedarnath Aggarwal was married to Naruti Devi, and they had six children together.
The Bikanervala group has a net worth of Rs. 1300 crores.
His career
Although Kedarnath Aggarwal and his brother were hard-pressed at first, the ‘taste of Bikaner’ was soon recognized. Later, the Aggarwal brothers opened a store in Chandni Chowk, Delhi, using recipes that had been passed down through the generations in their family. The firm currently runs over 60 stores in India and is present in the US, New Zealand, Singapore, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates.
