Kate finished her studies at Christ the King School, in Manchester, and later at the Withington Girls’ School. Kate shifted to Spain at 17 years of age and there she learned Spanish and completed her high school diploma.

A year after Kate did a degree at the University of Malaga in 2003 where she finished her “Translation and Interpreting.” Kate Abdo took time out of her studies to live in France and Germany. Further, she graduated from the University of Salford with B.A. (Hons) in European Languages.

She was born to Tom Giles, an avid Manchester United fan, and was a special guest when he was interviewed by Peter Schmeichel live at the Etihad Stadium in 2023. Kate got married to Ramtin Abdo, a German businessman and investor.

Kate Abdo’s broadcasting career began at the German international news network Deutsche Welle in early 2005, in which she finished an internship in the foreign language department. From early 2006 to 2007, she served as a production assistant for Goal! The Bundesliga Magazine, and at the same time was a sports news presenter at Deutsche Welle until 2009.

Kate hosted coverage for their English and German-language services. From Germany, Abdo shifted to the UK and joined Sky Sports, where she hosted the Pay Per View boxing events. She later took up a permanent offer from the network to relocate to the US and host their Champions League, Europa League.

Kate is also known for her role in hosting the FIFA Ballon d’Or and Laureus World Sports Awards. In late 2020, she returned back to the UK to work for CBS Sports, being their host of the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League. Abdo is currently working in the US for DAZN’s boxing coverage.
