Karim Benzema has been linked to terrorists of the Muslim Brotherhood

Karim Benzema made a sleek move to join Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League earlier in the season but has now made headlines as the French interior ministry claims his links with terrorist organization.

Karim Benzema was the Ballon d’Or winner in the 2022-23 season with Real Madrid and was added back to the French national team after his fair share of controversies in the past.

Gérald Darmanin from the French interior ministry has made some bold claims about the Al-Ittihad star after he expressed his support for Palestine in their conflict with Israel.

Darmanin linked Karim Benzema with the ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ terrorist organization, claiming it’s well-known. Benzema previously expressed support for Palestinians in the Israel-Palestine conflict, sparking controversy. On October 7, 2023, Hamas in Gaza initiated attacks, leading to conflict with Israel.

However, The Muslim Brotherhood was born in Egypt in the year 1928 in Ismalia, North East of Cairo. It was a group founded by Sheik Hassan Al-Banna. Considered a reformist organization of the Suni leadership that set themselves two specific goals: to free the country from British oppression and take the power in Egypt in order to fill it back with Islamic values.

This program, led by Hassan Al-Banna, aimed to elevate religion through education, fostering an Islamic revival and granting it a central role in society. the group became known because of its charitable activities for the lower and middle classes.

Former football star Mesut Ozil, who played for Arsenal and Real Madrid, publicly supported Palestine and urged both sides to halt hostilities in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

During an interview France’s Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin accused Benzema of having connections with the “Muslim Brotherhood,” widely considered a terrorist organization. Benzema is expected to respond, as he has a history of addressing such controversies.

Public figures, including former Israeli goalkeeper Dudu Aouate, have strongly reacted to Benzema’s post. Aouate used explicit language in multiple languages to insult him. The complex and divisive nature of the Israel-Palestine conflict has prevented the soccer world from uniting behind a single cause to support the victims.
