A Pakistani cricketer, Kamran Akmal, is making headlines after he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket prior to the 2023 edition of PSL, know about his wife and net worth

For those who are unversed, let us tell you, as per several reports, the veteran wicketkeeper, Akmal, announced his retirement prior to the Pakistan Super League 2023.

Earlier, the 41-year-old player was named as the batting consultant for the Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam for upcoming PSL’s edition.

Who is Kamran Akmal?

For those who are unfamiliar with the cricketer, let us tell you, Kamran Akmal, was born in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, January 13, 1982.

The 5 ft 6 in tall player is also known by the nickname Kami. The right hand batter was born to Mohammad Akmal Siddique, who’s a senior cricket administrator.

Kamran has eight siblings, a sister and 7 brothers. Kamran being the fourth child, while two of his younger brother, Adnan Akmal and Umar Akmal, are also professional cricketers.

He is also known as the alumni of the Beaconhouse School System. During the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2016-17, Akmal was emerged as the highest run-scorer after he scored a total of 1,035 runs in the tournament.

In November 2017, during the National T20 Cup, he scored 150 runs for Lahore Whites against Islamabad. At the time, he become the first Pakistani batsman to score 150 runs in a T20 match.

The professional cricketer was picked by Maratha Arabians during the inaugural edition of T10 League which was held in UAE.

The cricketer was retained by the franchise for their second edition. In 2019, he even played in the first edition of Qatar T10 League, where he was picked by Swift Gallopers.

After witnessing his amazing performance, Akmal was even signed by the Rajasthan Royals to play in the inaugural season of the IPL.

At the time, he played a total of 5 matches as a wicketkeeper and top-order batsman including the finals of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings.

After the thrilling finish, Royals won the tournament. However, he didn’t participated in IPL 2009 because Pakistani players weren’t allowed to play in that season due to a tense atmosphere after the Mumbai attacks in 2008.

Kamran married the daughter of a former Test cricketer, Mohammad Ilyas, back in 2006. His net worth is at $5 million.
