What Exactly Happened in Chapter 91
In the prologue to Chapter 91 of Kaiju No. 8, we see a young Soshiro losing a sparring battle with his older sibling. The issue then brought readers back to the present. There they witnessed Hoshina’s devastating defeat at the hands of Kaiju No. 12. Soshiro drew his sword once more, but Kaiju No. 12 pounced on him, possibly severing Soshiro’s arm.
This precipitated Soshiro’s near-death experience, during which he reminisced about his life while he pictured himself drowning and dying. Soshiro came to with a start, and it turned out that No. 10 had lost his tail, not an arm. The tenth officer then tried to persuade Soshiro to continue fighting, but Soshiro refused and argued it was pointless because they lacked the necessary expertise to defeat their adversary.
No. 10 continued by telling Soshiro that this is exactly what he wanted. Furthermore that he has no intention of giving up now that he is so close to achieving his goals. This sparked an idea in Soshiro, and as the issue came to a close. No. 10 chimed in to remind him that they should follow their hearts and have some fun.
