What Exactly Happened in Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 90
Beginning with chapter 90 of Kaiju No. 8, Konomi Okonogi reassures herself that the strongest melee fighter in the Defense Force, Hoshina, can’t possibly lose. Hoshina, meanwhile, kept attacking Kaiju No. 12, eventually penetrating the monster right at its heart. It turned out, though, that No. 12 had been keeping its vitals hidden elsewhere.
Hoshina saw this and began rapidly slashing at No. 12, seeking for the core until he located it in the neck. No. 12 successfully blocked a blow from Hoshina and shattered another of the swordsman’s blades. Hoshina took out a second sword and tried to overwhelm No. 12 with a double attack.
While Okonogi pondered Hoshina’s beginnings, Hoshina was rapidly approaching 13 minutes of completely released force and was about to overheat. Fortunately, Hoshina managed to find a way in. No. 12 took on Hoshina’s position, and in the chapter’s last pages, he used Hoshina’s own skills against him.
