Kabzaa, which premiered in theatres to moderate reviews, is now coming to OTT with its release date close

Kabzaa was released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, and Odia. The movie’s producers released a breathtaking teaser in 2022, featuring big-name actors. The teaser’s length of 2 minutes and 3 seconds was sufficient to convey the film’s scope, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated South Indian films of 2023.

On March 17, 2023, Kabzaa was released in theatres worldwide in multiple languages. The story of the movie revolves around an underworld don, who is portrayed by Upendra. 

Although advance booking began five days before its debut, it was not successful in generating significant pre-bookings. The film’s bookings for day 1 earned between Rs. 3.5 and 4 Cr. Although shown on 4,000 screens around the world, the film was not well received by audiences.

The movie’s trailer was originally slated to debut on March 3, 2023. However, due to a number of factors, that date was moved to March 4, 2023, and was revealed by Amitabh Bachchan.

The Star Cast of Kabzaa

Shriya Saran is seen as the female lead opposite Upendra. Kichha Sudeepa, a beloved Kannada actor, also plays a significant role.

Samuthirakani, Nawab Shah, Manoj Bajpayee, Murli Sharma, Kabir Duhan Singh, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Danish Akhtar Saifi, Avinash, and others are also seen in the movie.

The Plot Story of Kabzaa

This 1960–1984 period action movie was written and directed by R. Chandru. Under the production companies SSE & Invenio Origin and Anand Pandit Motion Productions, the movie is made by R. Chandra Shekar and Alankar Pandhan.

The entire movie was filmed on expansive sets built in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Box Office and Review of Kabzaa

Upendra’s movie generated strong pre-release buzz, but it failed to generate any advance reservations. The reviews and opinions of cinephiles and reviewers on the movie ranged from neutral to unfavourable.

According to trade estimates, Kabzaa would wrap up around Rs 30 crore in India. However, the manufacturing budget estimates a significant failure of about Rs 100 crore. 

OTT & Satellite Rights for Kabzaa

The digital rights to Kabzaa in its Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam versions have been acquired by Amazon Prime.

According to reports, the OTT juggernaut will also likely submit a bid for Kabzaa’s Hindi adaptation. The movie will debut on Amazon Prime on April 14, 2023.

But, according to News18, Kabzaa’s Kannada version’s satellite rights have been sold to Colors Kannada.
