Much-anticipated seventh leg of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022, also known as Julius Baer Generation Cup continued on Tuesday as Indian prodigy Arjun Erigaisi dominated his opponents to earn a two-point lead with 17 points after eight rounds, know the schedule, results and standings
Day 2 of Julius Baer Generation Cup, the star-studded seventh stop on the $1.6 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, saw the sequel of drama between Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann as Carlsen resigned from his match after one move. Before he could quit, Magnus was required to make at least one move in the board and he made just one before resigning, making it abundantly evident that he is simply unwilling to play against Hans Niemann.

2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour: Leg 7 – Julius Baer Generation Cup Day 2 Results & Latest Standings
In Round 6 of ongoing 2022 Julius Baer Generation Cup, Magnus Carlsen resigned after just one move versus Hans Niemann, assuring that rest of the day’s chess would only serve as a minor footnote to that drama. Magnus won against Levon Aronian and came through a close match against Praggnanandhaa on Day 2 to remain at second place in the standings. The game between Carlsen and Praggnanandhaa in round eight was remarkable since the 17-year-old Indian player sacrificed an exchange as early as move seven and came very near to victory before the game finished in a tie.
Arjun Erigaisi, a young talent from India, is now the current tournament leader as the 19-year-old star from Warangal won against Niemann & Aronian on second day before closing with two draws to earn a two-point lead. Legendary player Vasyl Ivanchuk is at fourth position with 14 points after eight rounds and is tied on points with Hans Niemann and Duda.
On Day 3, when chess will presumably take center stage, fans will watch out for games like Ivanchuk vs Carlsen and Gelfand vs Carlsen. Magnus and Hans playing each other in the quarterfinals, though, is unavoidably going to be a plot point.
