Following these outcomes, Pragg is in the lead in the battle for the championship with 2.5 points, and with only two days remaining, Pranav is under pressure to close the gap.
This three-day tournament with a $10,000 prize fund is being held specifically for this contest between two teenage prodigies and it is sponsored by Switzerland’s Julius Bär private bank. The competition Pragg vs. Pranav, which will take place between December 11 and December 13, will have blitz & quick time constraints and be a best-of-four matches format. Indian chess aficionados will keenly watch this tournament as some of the country’s most brilliant young players compete for the championship. In the meantime, Pragg’s success in the 2021 Challengers Chess Tour has helped him go to new heights. Pragg dominated the Meltwater competition in his first full season, winning three matches against World Champion Magnus Carlsen on the way to a third-place overall showing.
