Here is all you need to know about Victor Wembanyama Spurs teammate Julian Champagnie who has been pulling up Summer League, his age, height, contract and college stats

The Spurs have signed swingman Julian Champagnie to a four-year, $12 million deal with a team option for the final year, making him the third restricted free agent to join with the organisation.

For the Spurs’ final 15 games of the season, Champagnie was acquired via the waiver wires on a two-way contract as depth dwindled as a result of injuries and other factors. He made an impression during his brief stay in San Antonio, scoring 11 points on average and pulling down four rebounds while shooting over 40% from three. It’s hardly surprising that he received a guaranteed deal, and the Summer League, which starts on Sunday, June 3, in Sacramento, will give him further opportunities to prove that he merits inclusion in the starting lineup.
Who is Julian Champagnie?
Champagnie, a 6 ft 8 in forward from New York, is 22 years old and was born on June 29, 2001 . Justin, his twin brother, plays for the Celtics in the NBA. While Justin played college basketball at Pittsburgh, Julian played basketball for St. John’s. Julian had an immediate impact at the collegiate level and was named to the Big East All-Freshman Team.
Averaging 19.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game as a sophomore, he made a significant improvement and was named the Big East’s Most Improved Player of the Year. With 19.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game as a junior, he maintained those marks and was named to the All-Big East First Team on back to back. However, Champagnie was not taken in the 2022 NBA Draft despite his performance at the NCAA level.
At 6’8 with a 6’7.75 wingspan he has good size and strength to go along with a solid shooting stroke and while consistency as a shooter is still in question after shooting just 30% from deep, his slashing and playmaking for others was at an all-time best this season.
A look at Julian Champagnie’s NBA journey so far
Champagnie joined the 76ers on a Two-Way deal after going undrafted. In only two games with the NBA team last year, he was ultimately waved after the trade deadline despite averaging 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists with the Delaware Blue Coats. The Spurs chose to sign Champagnie before he cleared waivers, demonstrating their confidence in his ability to become an NBA player.
Julian Champagnie contract details
By signing Champagnie, 22, to a four-year, $12 million contract at the start of free agency, the Spurs made it obvious they liked what they saw from him at the close of the season.
