Doha, Qatar is set to host the prestigious 2023 Judo World Championships for the first time in history.
2023 Judo World Championships competition preview
The highly-anticipated 62nd edition of the World Judo Championships will take place from 7-14 May in Doha, Qatar. Over 600 competitors from approximately 100 countries are expected to compete in the event. The competition will feature 15 world titles up for grabs, including 7 individual categories for men and women. There is also a team event on the final day.
Adding more stakes to the competition is the fact that competitors will get to win qualification points for the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024. Each judoka has the chance to earn up to 2,000 points – the highest possible – for the Olympic ranking.
In the previous 2022 World Judo Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Japan emerged as the dominant force. Japan won five world titles, while Brazil and the host nation Uzbekistan came behind with two titles each.

2023 Judo World Championships: road Paris 2024
One interesting factor of the 2023 Judo World Championships is that Athletes win the 2023 world title, they can earn up to 2,000 ranking points in their qualifications for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The qualification process for the Paris 2024 Olympics began on 24 June 2022. On 23 June 2024, the top 17 countries across the 7 weight categories on the IJF World Ranking List will each earn a quota place.
