Famous Australian Musician, Judith Durham has sadly died at the age of 79, know her cause of death and net worth
The singer and songwriter was a famous vocalist in the Aussie folk music group called ‘The Seekers’. The group was formed in Melbourne in 1962.

‘The Seekers’ was one of the biggest groups of the 60s. They have produced some amazing songs such as, I’ll Never Find Another You, I Am Australian and Georgy Girl.
Though their band only performed for 5 years from 1963 to 1968 but when Judith left to pursue a solo career, the band had sold over 50 million records worldwide.
According to a report by the Guardian, Judith died in palliative care on Friday night i.e, August 5, after being treated at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
As per the reports, the singer died due to complications from a long-standing chronic lung disease called bronchiectasis. After learning the tragic news of her demise, tributes started to pour in which flooded the social media.
Judith Durham’s Husband
Judith was married to a British pianist Ron Edgeworth, in 1969. Their marriage lasted for 35 years until the death of her husband.
Ron was her musical director and an actor, composer who is best known for his role in 1977s Raw Deal and 1975s Cash and Company.
The couple tied their knot at the Scots’ Church in Melbourne. Until the mid 1980-s, the duo lived in the UK and Switzerland. Later, they moved to Nambour, Queensland.
Ron was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, and due to which he died on December 10, 1994 with his wife, Judith by his side. After the death of her husband, Judith never remarried.
She always believed in karma and reincarnation, so she always had the comfort of knowing that Ron was continuing on his spiritual journey.
As per her website, “She does not try to hold him back in this world. She treasures warm and happy memories and gratitude for their most wonderful marriage which sustains and comforts her all the time”.
According to the band ‘The Seekers’, Judith and her late husband Ron chose not to have children. Her net worth stood at $2 million.
Judith revealed through her website that their, “love for each other and the music that was woven into every part of their lives fulfilled them completely”.
Tributes
The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, after learning the news of Judith’s demise paid tribute to the singer via his Twitter account.
Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese called her a “national treasure” and an “Australian icon”. He penned down as, “Judith Durham gave voice to a new strand of our identity and helped blaze a trail for a new generation of Aussie artists”.
He continued, “Her kindness will be missed by many, the anthems she gave to our nation will never be forgotten”.
The opposition leader, Peter Dutton also expressed his condolences via Twitter. He wrote, “Australia has lost a musical and cultural icon with the passing of Judith Durham”.
Judith’s bandmates also paid their tributes to her by calling her, “our treasured lifelong friend and shining star”.
Keith Potger, Bruce Woodley and Athol Guy told about her struggle as they said, “Her struggle was intense and heroic, never complaining of her destiny and fully accepting its conclusion”.
