Now that Bayern Munich has made it official that Joshua Kimmich will be staying, Bayern Munich fans must really be delighted.

Bayern had a good start to the season, winning the first game under new head coach Julian Nagelsmann. Not just that, the club also won the German Super Cup last week by beating Borussia Dortmund 3-1 where Robert Lewandowski scored a brace.

Joshua Kimmich had arrived at Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig 6 years ago, in 2015. The German midfielder came through VfB Stuttgart’s youth system and is now known to be one of the best midfielders in the world.

This is what Kimmich had to say on his contract extension as the Bundesliga 2021/22 season begins, “The most important reason for my contract extension is that I can pursue my passion with joy every day here at FC Bayern.”

He also said, “I have a team where I can achieve everything, and a lot of teammates have become real friends.”

Throughout his 6-year stint at Bayern, Kimmich has made 264 appearances, won six Bundesliga titles, three German cups along with one Champions League title.

The 26-year old midfielder has also managed to register a total of 2,588 successful passes into the final third of the pitch, which is more than any other player in the same period.

Now that Joshua Kimmich has extended his contract with FC Bayern, he will be falling in the same group of players who earn between 15 and 20 million Euros gross per year.

This group includes players like Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sane. With Kimmich renewing his contract with the German giants, it looks like Leon Goretzka is the next player to follow him.
