Despite his illustrious career with Liverpool, which saw him lift trophies such as the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and the FA Community Shield, reports earlier this month suggested Henderson desired a return to the Premier League after just six months with Al Ettifaq.
Recent reports indicate that Henderson might be on the brink of joining Dutch club Ajax after reaching an agreement to depart Al Ettifaq. However, this move back to European football comes at a significant cost, as Henderson is expected to accept a substantial pay cut.

According to the Mirror, Ajax officials flew into Manchester on Wednesday to finalize an 18-month deal with Henderson, which includes the option of extending for another year and the 33-year-old midfielder is set to earn around $108k (ยฃ85k/โฌ99k) per week, which could rise to $140k (ยฃ110,000/โฌ128k) per week with bonuses. Henderson’s current net worth is at 25 million pounds.
Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Steven Bergwijn is leading the pack at Ajax with a yearly salary of ยฃ3.9 million. The salary hierarchy at Ajax continues with striker Brian Brobbey at ยฃ3.74 million in second place and midfielder Steven Berghuis at ยฃ3.22 million in third.
Despite the pay cut, Hendersonโs move to Ajax appears to be progressing, with transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano providing an update on social media. Romano mentioned that Henderson is set to travel to Amsterdam to finalize the move, with all parties working on the final contract details.
