Jon Wes Townley started his racing career in 2008 when he drove in the Nationwide series. He was always kind of a journey man racer who never really got any major success.
His best ever finish was also his only career win back in the 2015 Rhino Linings 350. His career lasted over eight years where he raced in almost 200 races. Townley was born on 31st December, 1989 in Watkinsville, Georgia US. As a kid he used to participate in mountain biking competitions. His father Tony Townley is an American Businessman and also belonged to a rich family background.
Townley married his long time girlfriend Laura Bird in 2016. The relationship faced several ups and downs and it also led to Townley getting arrested. In 2019, Townley was charged with domestic violence and also some other charges. This happened when he threw his wife to the floor in rage.
After this he was asked to serve 12 months in probation. Earlier this year, in February the couple filed for divorce and it was settled late in September. This did not sit well with Townley and he went on to attack his ex-wife and Anderson (Her new partner) with an axe. Anderson then fired shots in defense which heavily injured Townley and also Laura.
Townley was taken to the hospital but couldn’t survive however, Laura is in a stable condition. He was pronounced dead after attempting murder on October 2nd at the age of 31.
