John McAfee was a well-known British-American computer programmer, businessman, politician and most known for founding McAfee Associates.
On September 18, 1945, he was born in Cinderford, Gloucestershire, England, near the Forest of Dean. Don McAfee, an American soldier, is his father; Joan, a British woman, is his mother. He was reared in the American city of Salem, Virginia.
He graduated from Virginia’s Roanoke College with a mathematics bachelor’s degree in 1967, and in 2008, he was given an honorary Doctor of Science degree.
McAfee enrolled in Northeast Louisiana State College after getting his bachelor’s degree with the intention of pursuing a PhD in mathematics, but he was dismissed later.
He had three marriages. His high school sweetheart Circa was his first wife with whom he had a daughter. Later, he wed Judy, a former American Airlines flight attendant. Former sex worker Janice Dyson is his third wife. In 2013, the pair moved to Portland, Oregon.

His Career
From 1968 to 1970, John McAfee worked as a programmer for NASA’s Institute for Space Studies in New York City on the Apollo programme. From there, he worked as a software designer for Univac and then as an operating system architect for Xerox.
He started working as a software consultant for Computer Sciences Corporation in 1978. From 1980 to 1982, he was employed by the consulting company Booz Allen Hamilton.
He began developing antivirus software that could automatically detect and eliminate computer viruses in 1986 when he was working for Lockheed. He finally established McAfee Associates Inc. in 1987 to market this programme, which he called VirusScan.
After leaving McAfee Associates, he launched many businesses, including Future Tense Central, QuorumEx, and Tribal Voice, which developed the PowWow chat application. He also had executive positions at Everykey, MGT Capital Investments, and Luxcore.
He was taken into custody in Spain in October 2020 on suspicion of evading U.S. taxes. Federal U.S. prosecutors filed criminal and civil accusations against McAfee on the basis of alleged four-year tax filing omissions.
