During their moving speech at WWE Hall Fame this year, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella had shocked their fans when they thanked Nikki’s ex-fiancé John Cena. The had started dating in 2012, got engaged in 2017 and unfortunately broke up in 2018. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Bella Twins revealed the reason for the same.

Apparently, what Nikki and John shared was more than just a mere relationship. While she was up on the big stage delivering her speech, Nikki remembered John as a mentor. More than she did as a former lover. She confessed that in moments like the WWE Hall of Fame, one really looks at their career and goes, ‘Who was there, who helped me along the way?’
“I think just because you have breakups or whatever it may be, doesn’t mean you can’t thank those people and just truly be so grateful for the help that they had,” the two-time Divas Champion elaborated on how John helped her flourish.

Nikki Bella And John Cena Split
Brie Bella also revealed how she too texted John Cena after their speech. She disclosed that she always credit Cena for sitting in a chair, and watching the monitor the whole time. “When you came back from your match, he’d give you advice. He always cared about everyone’s match and their work and how to help them improve. And I’ll never forget that,” Brie said.

While Brie is married to WWE superstar Daniel Bryan, Nikki is now engaged to her Dancing With The Stars partner Artem Chigvintsev. The Champ has also moved on and married his partner Shay Shariatzadeh. We’re glad to know that all of these three beloved superstars are on good terms with each other despite their impending marriage falling apart.
