Hogwarts Legacy could be the Harry Potter game fans have waited 20 years for from PS5
For those who are unversed, let us tell you, the role-playing game is based on the iconic Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series. The game is scheduled to be released on February 10, 2023.
The franchise is amongst one of the most successful brands in movie history and it is a highly-anticipated game of the year.
The internet users have flooded the platform with their expression and opinions as they are protesting against the game release.
One such user expressed, “This woman is a TERF and anyone who pledges to support her monetarily is also a transphobe.”
For those who aren’t familiar with TERF, let us tell you, the acronym is especially used for transgender exclusionary radical feminist.
As per a report by Forbes, It’s a term allegedly invented more than a decade ago by a cisgender hetero-sexual female writer Viv Smythe.
The term was coined to describe feminists who are transphobic though Rowling has clarified her support for the trans community in an earlier tweet of defense back in 2020.
The writer was criticized by the trans community and its supporters ever since her tweets back in June 2020, which took issue with the phrase “people who menstruate,” as it was written in a Devex article.
At the time, she responded “People who menstruate.โ Iโm sure there used to be a word for those people,” before saying “Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
She continued, “If sex isnโt real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isnโt hate to speak the truth.โ
Famous personalities like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are amongst the ones who spoke out against her views.
Redmayne expressed, “I disagree with Joโs comments. Trans women are women, trans men are men and non-binary identities are valid.”
